Camila Vallejo Dowling, Diputada de la Republica de Chile, envió carta a Obama solicitando la libertad de los héroes cubanos.

PRESIDENTE DE LOS ESTADOS UNIDOS

Señor Presidente:

Por medio de esta carta, quiero sumarme al clamor expresado por una gran cantidad de seres humanos a lo largo del planeta, como artistas, intelectuales, parlamentarios, juristas y personas de buena voluntad, quienes esperan de usted una decisión de elemental justicia, sobre todo tomando en cuenta su calidad de Premio Nobel de la Paz.

Se trata del indulto a 3 ciudadanos cubanos, injustamente detenidos en cárceles de su país, solo por buscar proteger a Cuba de actos terroristas que se planifican en territorio de Estados Unidos.

Antonio Guerrero Rodríguez, Gerardo Hernández Nordelo y Ramón Labañino Salazar, han sido condenados por autoridades de su país, acusados falsamente de conspirar contra Estados Unidos, pese a que ellos se infiltraban en organizaciones, reconocidamente terroristas, que ha atentado en reiteradas ocasiones contra Cuba y contra ciudadanos cubanos en el interior y exterior de su territorio.

El mundo y Latinoamérica en especial, esperan de usted, la búsqueda de la normalización de las relaciones con Cuba, inspirándose en el principio de la autodeterminación de los pueblos.

La liberación de estos 3 patriotas cubanos sería un gran gesto en esa dirección.

Estoy segura que usted conoce estos casos y creo que desde su tan alta investidura, no avalará la continuidad de los ataques terroristas que ha sufrido Cuba, por personajes tan siniestros como Luis Posada Carriles y entiende que cada país tiene el legítimo derecho a protegerse de esos bárbaros crímenes.

No solo Cuba, todas las personas de buena voluntad del planeta esperamos que Gerardo, Ramón y Antonio puedan volver a pisar su tierra como ya lo hacen sus compañeros René y Fernando. Eso solo depende de usted.

Mr. President:

Through this letter, I would like to join the clamor expressed by a large number of people throughout the world; artists, intellectuals, parliamentarians, jurists and people of good will, who expect from you a decision of elemental justice, especially taking into account your status as Nobel Peace Prize Laureate.

This concerns pardoning 3 Cuban citizens, unjustly held in prisons in your country, for trying to protect Cuba from terrorist acts planned from U.S. territory.

Antonio Guerrero Rodríguez, Gerardo Hernández Nordelo and Ramón Labañino Salazar have been convicted by U.S. authorities, falsely accused of conspiring against the United States, while in reality they actually infiltrated admittedly terrorist organizations, who have repeatedly attacked Cuba and Cuban citizens both inside and outside Cuban territory.

The world and especially Latin America expect you to pursue the normalization of relations with Cuba, inspired by the principle of peoples right of self-determination.

The release of these 3 Cuban patriots would be a great gesture in that direction.

I’m sure that you know about these cases and I believe that from your high office you will not endorse the continuity of the terrorist attacks suffered by Cuba, performed by sinister characters as Luis Posada Carriles, and that you understand that each country has the legitimate right to protect itself from such barbarous crimes.

Not only Cuba, but all people of good will in the world hope that Gerardo, Ramón and Antonio will be able to return to their homeland, as their comrades René and Fernando already have done. This is up to you.

Hoping sincerely that you will make the right decision, I say goodbye attentively.
